Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 27-year-old female. I have a swollen and painful right ear. My ear started to itch with discharge liquid two days ago, and after I tried to clean it with a cotton bud, it immediately got swollen. Please help. I am currently taking Divalproex, Sertraline, and Clonazepam for my severe anxiety and depression.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

With regard to your concern, as you had ear discharge, the most probable cause was otitis media. When you used earbud, it might have caused minor trauma to the external auditory canal leading to swelling. Treatment: 1) Take tablet Ampicillin 250 mg + Cloxacillin 250 mg four times a day for five days. 2) Take tablet Paracetamol 500 mg + Ibuprofen 400 mg one tablet three times a day for two days, then whenever you feel severe pain. 3) Take tablet Levocetirizine 5 mg OD at night for seven days. 4) Eardrop Occupol-d (Polymyxin B sulfate 5000 IU, Chloramphenicol 4 mg, Dexamethasone sodium phosphate1 mg) three drops three times a day seven days. 5) Apply ointment Supriocin-B plus locally over the swelling by using earbuds three times a day for seven days. Avoid entry of water in-ear and ear picking. I hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
