Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My wife is feeling pain inside her right ear. According to her, she feels the pain more when she lies on the bed or recline her head for any purpose. The intensity of the pain is also showing up around her ear too. It is her feeling that there is something inside the ear, which may be water or something like that. All these have started the day before yesterday. Please help. She used Paracetamol for the same.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your problem could be due to an infection inside the ear or secondary to nose and throat problem. I would like to know if she has any nose block, excessive sneezing, or throat irritation? Any ringing sensation in the ear or giddiness? Any discharge from the ear, if yes, for how long? Any relief after taking Paracetamol? Please get back to me with the reply.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

She does not have any nose block or throat irritation, but yes, she is having a ringing sensation in the ear. There is no discharge from her ear. Paracetamol has provided her just temporary relief for two to three hours.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Let her continue Paracetamol 500 only when the pain is more. Along with that let her take Recofast plus which is a combination of oral decongestants, antihistamine, and Paracetamol twice daily for five days. I am giving this treatment assuming that she has eustachian tube catarrh. If she does not get relieved by the above treatment, then she will have to go to the ear nose throat specialist and get her ears examined. If needed the doctor will ask her to get pure tone audiometry done.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
