Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have pain and itching in my left ear for over six months now. I got my ears cleaned by an ENT doctor also, but it did not help. I visited the doctor again and he said that I do not have an infection. What kind of medication can you prescribe me and what is the reason for this? Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I want to tell you that sometimes the itching and pain can be due to a nerve root involvement. Nerve pain can cause all these symptoms apart from infection. Since the doctor has already ruled out the infection, I would like to treat you for the nerve pain. I would advise you to take the tablet Gabapentin 300 mg thrice daily along with wax dissolving ear drops. Also, try taking an anti-allergic like the tablets Montelukast and Levocetirizine which can help you with the problem if it has an allergic component. I am pretty sure you will be fine with these medications. Hope this helps you. Kindly revert back in case of further queries. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
