Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My period has been delayed for two days. I want to get my period in one day. I am going on a trip, so I want to get my period immediately. How can I get it? Please suggest me any medicine.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Hormones are used to delay or prepone menstrual bleeding. Hormones or medicines must start in advance, like a week or six days before. If you are going in one or two days and the due date is also within one or two days, then the hormone might not be as effective as it would be when started earlier, a week back or six days, or you may even get irregular bleeding even after taking hormones.

For postponing for weeks, I suggest having Primolute N (Norethisterone) 10 mg twice daily for two or three weeks if you want to delay cycles and can stop three to four days before you want to get withdrawal bleeding. Similarly, if you have time, you can start pills now and stop after five days. Within a week, you should have a menstrual bleed as your menses. I have given you both the above scenarios. Another important thing is that hormones are taken to delay or to prepone menstrual bleeding can make your periods irregular for a few months, or you can have unscheduled spotting.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
