Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had to take an ECG for employment purposes. As the cardiologist is not around, I would like to know the result of the ECG, as soon as possible. Could you please review my ECG and explain the statements in the upper right corner? I have never had any heart problems, and I do not present any symptoms of heart disease.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There is conduction system in the heart, and it consists of various wires called bundles and fascicles. Due to various reasons like coronary artery disease, hypertension or a block or interruption of conduction, it may lead to changes in the ECG (attachment removed to protect patient identity). Not a matter of worry, still one stress test and echo test should be done to rule out coronary artery disease. I guess there is no history of hypertension. Also get a lipid profile test done.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Is it your professional opinion, based on this ECG that I should not worry about passing a standard medical test for employment? Due to my job, I am required to take an ECG once a year. Is it likely that it might have been present in my past ECGs or is it something that can show up suddenly? I have been doing this for 20 years, but I have not had the chance to see my results until now.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

In my professional opinion, if changes would have been same as that of the previous one I would have cleared the case. If new, I would have ordered for more test just to prove these are age related, benign changes and to confirm that the patient has not got any coronary artery disease. Most the times these are benign and not worrisome. I would have ordered an echo and stress test, before giving clearance. Most probably you should be cleared after these tests as you have no symptoms and no risk factors.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
