Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 55 years old and I got an ECG done. I will upload a photo of the ECG printout. I would like it to be reviewed whether it is a normal ECG. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Your ECG (electrocardiogram) report shows (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), sinus rhythm early RBBB (right bundle branch block) has no significant ST (the interval between ventricular depolarization and repolarization) and T wave abnormalities seen. So the only positive finding here is early RBBB change. The rest of the ECG is normal. This can be a related change and may not suggest any abnormality. However, we would like to subject all such patients to echo (echocardiogram) to rule out the possibility of structural heart disease. So, in a nutshell, there is a minor abnormality, which is probably age-related change. Hope this helps you. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I had got a two dimensional echo done a few months back. Findings were structurally normal heart. Copy of the report the is uploaded. Is it advisable to get it done again, or can earlier findings remain true at this juncture? Also, in your reply, the phrase 'a related change' did it mean 'age-related change?' Please help.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, it is an age-related change. Your echo was fine, so no need repeat echo test. Just as additional information, if there is any family history of heart diseases, or any risk factors like smoking, hypertension, diabetes, or even otherwise, it is recommended for an elderly individual to go for a screening treadmill test (TMT). I hope this helps. Thank you.
