Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 1-year-old son has eczema from head to toe, and he recently scratched all the skin off his knee, and now it looks like a carpet burn. We have tried multiple moisturizers and Hydrocortisone creams. Those creams only worked for about three days, and that is it. I had to bandage his knee to keep him from scratching the broken skin. Is there any other treatment for this condition?

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Eczema may have frequent exacerbations, but slowly, he will overcome it as 50 percent will be reduced by the age of 10 to 12. All he needs is very strict care. I suggest the following.

1. Do not rub the towel on the baby's skin.

2. Keep him away from dust or pollen.

3. Keep the skin very well moisturized by frequent petroleum jelly application.

4. Mix aqua rose and glycerine in equal amounts and apply on the whole skin after showering on slightly wet skin.

Thank you.
