Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I had an ELISA test 28, 68, and 85 days after exposure. All were found negative. But I have a sore throat, white tongue, cough, and just found swollen nodes under my arm, and I also lost 2 kilograms in a month. Can you please help me?

Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I understand your concern.

You may be experiencing symptoms related to an infection based on the information you provided. While your HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) tests have been negative, it is essential to note that HIV is not the only possible cause of the symptoms you are experiencing. The symptoms you described, such as sore throat, white tongue, cough, and swollen lymph nodes, may indicate other infections, such as bacterial or viral infections. The weight loss you mentioned could also be a concerning symptom. Regarding your previous exposure and treatment, you may have contracted a sexually transmitted infection (STI), which may or may not be related to your current symptoms. In the meantime, it is essential to take care of yourself by staying hydrated, getting plenty of rest, and practicing good hygiene to help prevent the spread of any potential infections. Determining the specific bacteria, virus, or fungus causing your symptoms is difficult without a thorough evaluation and diagnostic testing. However, some common bacterial infections that can cause sore throat, cough, and swollen lymph nodes include streptococcal pharyngitis and other bacterial infections such as mycoplasma and chlamydia.

Viral infections such as the common cold, influenza, and infectious mononucleosis can also cause these symptoms, along with other symptoms such as fever and body aches. Fungal infections such as candidiasis can cause white patches on the tongue and inside the mouth but typically do not cause cough or swollen lymph nodes. In your case, possible organisms would be chlamydia, candida, and mycoplasma.

I hope this information will help.

Thanks.
