Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 21 years old and dating my girlfriend. We are planning to go out for a date in two days, and I want to know how she can prevent pregnancy as we are not planning to have a baby now. Are condoms effective, or is it alright if she takes any emergency contraceptive pill? Which emergency contraceptive pill is effective against pregnancy?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I suggest you use the condom as it is safe and effective if used properly. Use it right from the start, as the precum will have sperms. I-pill (Levonorgestrel) should be used sparingly and must be taken within 24 to 72 hours of unprotected intercourse. However, it is more effective if taken within a few hours. Irregular bleeding is commonly seen after taking the I-pill.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
