Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

How many birth control pills should I take to equal Plan B? I missed my birth control pill for 17 days and had unprotected intercourse, but we do not want to be pregnant. Should I need Plan B or take extra birth control pills to avoid pregnancy? I would also like to know that can you get a birth control prescription online.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I fully understand your concern, and I will surely help you.

If you want reliable protection against unplanned pregnancy, then I request you to consider taking a Plan B pill (Levonorgestrel) as the Plan B pill is meant for emergency contraception. Sometimes birth control pills are taken as an emergency contraceptive pill in the form of excess dosage, but they can cause severe side effects. For your better understanding, let me explain to you. Emergency contraceptive pill delays the release of eggs from the ovary. If the eggs are already released, it prevents fertilization of the egg; if the egg is also fertilized, then it prevents implantation of the fertilized egg in the uterus. This kind of three-stage protection cannot be achieved through birth control pills. So, I request you to please take the Plan B pill for emergency contraception. God bless.

Thanks and regards.
