Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had unprotected sex four days before, and my wife took an I-pill the next morning within 12 hours. I already have a 3-year-old child and do not want second pregnancy. Is it fine to take another I-pill tonight or tomorrow morning to be safer? What are ways to be sure of not having a pregnancy in this case?

Answered by Dr. Richa Agarwal

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for trusting us with your health care. I have gone through your history and understand your concerns.

Menstrual irregularities in your case, could be due to hormonal imbalance caused by an I pill (Emergency contraceptive pill). As you took I pill on time, there is almost no chance of pregnancy in your case. There is no need to take another I pill. It may cause unnecessary side effects. So wait and watch for your menses, and get your home urine pregnancy test after seven days of your missed period date.

I hope you found it helpful. Feel free to ask for more information. Good luck. Regards.
