Hi doctor,
I had sex for two days and wake up yesterday with light spotting. Then again I had sex last night and started to have heavy bleeding. Now, I have little spotting today. I am taking birth control pills and have one more week of pills to take before having periods and so I should not have periods for a week. Is this normal? Can I be pregnant?

As you are taking birth control pills, you need to do a urine pregnancy test to rule out pregnancy. In your case, you have just started taking pills. Do not stop them if you miss a pill or two or else you need to take another contraceptive method along with them. So this spotting can be due to pregnancy-related or can be a side effect of pills. So get a pregnancy test first and review the reports.

I am taking birth control pills for a couple of years and I have not missed my pills. Last month, I took them consistently and I have not missed a pill. I took Plan-B before three weeks. Could bleeding occur due to a side effect of it? If I take my birth control pill regularly for a month, could I still become pregnant?

As you are taking pills regularly, the chances of pregnancy are very less. It is more likely to be due to side effects of pills. Once after taking pills regularly, it takes around two to three months to maintain hormonal balance. Wait for the spotting to get resolved and if it persists, then you need to consult a gynecologist soon for proper examination and hormonal evaluation. As the spotting got initiated after intercourse, so the local causes of bleeding have to be kept in mind.
