Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 21 years old. My last period was a month back. I had sex two days later at night. I used the condom properly, no tear or any break, but there was some liquid on him and so took the emergency pill Levonelle next morning. Then five days later, I had some bleeding which I am not sure whether it was just bleeding or unusual period. Ten days later, I had sex and took an emergency pill two hours after. I would like to know, is that possible to take the pill for two times in the same month and is it still efficient? My average period cycle is normally 28 days, usually, between 26 to 32 days, and duration lasts long for 6 to 7 days. Could you please suggest another method of contraception that will be suitable for me?

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

No, it is not known that emergency pills are how much effective when taken more than once in the same cycle. You should be careful before taking it. Your periods can be disturbed due to it. Bleeding may be due to it. Wait for your period and if it is delayed then do urine pregnancy test to confirm. More likely it turns to be negative and periods delayed. With a regular cycle of 26 to 32 days, you can look for the safe period definitely. If you do not have any kid, then condom and monthly pills are the best options you have as a contraception. And if you have one or two children then copper T is also a good option. Do consult the nearby gynecologist to clear pros and cons of each. Not a single method is 100 % effective. So keep in mind that everything has its failure rate. Do drink more water.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
