Hi doctor,

My girlfriend is experiencing seizures. This has been going on for about a week, with about ten seizures a day, but recently been worse. She received a computed tomography, and the results showed nothing different. She is on several medications that were prescribed to help with other issues. She is at the hospital now, but doctors are unsure what to do. Please help.

Thanks.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

When a scan is normal, and the patient still has continued seizures, it is difficult to explain for doctors and the patient's family. But it is manageable. They will give multiple anti-seizure medicines until the seizures are entirely under control. They should do it under EEG (electroencephalogram) monitoring to adjust the medication accordingly. They will taper them once seizures are under control. MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) brain should be done to get more information about any minor changes in the brain.

I hope the information will help.

Thanks.
