Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Of late I am feeling like an orphan. My mother is always concerned about my sister who got married last year and has an infant. I feel my sister has no time for me and my mother has forgotten me. I give a lot in a relationship but I do not get even a quarter of it in return.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand you are going through a tough time emotionally. You are very close to your mother and sister emotionally and feel let down by them. You have mentioned that your sister has an infant and your mother is spending more time with her. Probably your mother feels at this point of time your sister needs her more as this being her first child. She may need all the physical and emotional support possible. A baby does take up a lot of effort. So probably your mother and sister do not realize that they are ignoring you and your needs even if they are doing so unintentionally. I would advise you to talk to them openly about it. You can begin by how happy you are about the new addition to the family and how you would love to be involved by the family in the process. Gradually tell them how you have been feeling ignored. You never realize how open communications can really help improve relationships. Every relationship has ups and downs. I am sure you will be able to resolve issues with your mother and sister.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
