Common "Enlarged Adenoids" queries answered by top doctors | iCliniq

Enlarged Adenoids

Adenoids are tissues providing immunity situated in the back of the throat above the tonsils. Adenoids swell and return to their original size after the infection subsides. It is natural for adenoids to shrink once the child grows. The adenoids are enlarged permanently in some, leading to mouth breathing, difficulty swallowing, stuffy nose, snoring, etc. Surgical removal of the adenoids or reducing the size of the adenoids with nasal steroids is the treatment of choice.
