Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My baby is three months old. His spleen is 3.14 inches and the required size said by doctors is 2.36 inches. I want to ask if it is harmful to him or if any serious medication is required.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

Your child's spleen is mildly enlarged. For that, his CBC (complete blood count) and peripheral smear examination report can be done, which will rule out any hemolytic anemia disease if present. If peripheral smear examination is suspicious of hemolysis then serum LDH (lactate dehydrogenase) estimation and reticulocyte count can be done. So this blood report can be done for a primary workup.

Thank you.
