Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am around 29 years old, having swelling in my left scrotum and mild pain. I consulted a doctor who prescribed me Diethylcarbamazine 100 mg and Ciprofloxacin 500 mg. Unfortunately, I have had the problem again for the past few days, affecting my sexual life in my marriage. What should I do now? Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

You have recurrent epididymo-orchitis, a bacterial STD (sexually transmitted disease). The most common bacteria are Neisseria gonorrhoeae and Chlamydia trachomatis. I would suggest the following:

  1. Injection Ceftriaxone 500 mg once, then tablet Doxycycline 100 mg twice daily for ten days.
  2. Also, your partner should be treated. Do you have multiple partners, or do you involve in anal sex? Have you had any STD screening?

    I hope this helps.

    Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
