How to maintain an erection for a longer duration?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

It is getting difficult to get a full erection for a long time. It is ovulation time, so I am conscious of getting an erection. Would that be a problem? But previously, we had quality intercourse until three days ago. Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understood your concern. Firstly, I would like to inform you that fluctuations in sexual performance and erectile function can occur for various reasons and may not necessarily indicate a persistent problem. It is normal for sexual function and desire to vary due to factors such as stress, fatigue, hormonal changes, or even psychological factors. I suggest you approach these situations with understanding and open communication with your partner. Here are a few points you can consider:

  1. Relaxation and reduced pressure: Feeling conscious or anxious about sexual performance can sometimes contribute to difficulties in achieving and maintaining an erection. Try to create a relaxed and comfortable environment during sexual encounters, focusing on pleasure and connection rather than putting pressure on yourself to perform.
  2. Open communication: Discuss your concerns with your partner. Sharing your thoughts and feelings can help alleviate stress and create a supportive and understanding environment. Your partner's reassurance and support can make a positive difference.
  3. Focus on foreplay and intimacy: Engaging in extended foreplay and focusing on intimacy and connection can enhance arousal and reduce performance-related anxiety. Explore other ways to experience pleasure together, such as, manual stimulation or mutual exploration, which can still provide intimacy and satisfaction.

Remember, sexual function can vary from time to time, and occasional difficulties should not be cause for major concern. However, if the issue persists or causes significant distress, I suggest you consult a specialist for a thorough evaluation and personalized advice. They can help determine any underlying causes and provide appropriate guidance and treatment options. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
