Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 56-year-old male suffering from hypertension for three years; I take tablet Telma-LN 40, tablet CTD 6.25 mg, and tablet Nebistar 2.5 mg once a day. I have also been prescribed tablet Censpram 5 mg and tablet Etizolam 0.25 mg in the night for anxiety and sleep trouble. My average BP level is 130/70 mm of Hg, and my blood sugar level is within normal. For a few weeks, I have been experiencing an erectile problem. Is it due to the medicine or age?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and can understand your concern.

Erectile dysfunction can be due to the following reasons,

1) Diabetes (high blood sugar levels) or dyslipidemia (abnormal lipid levels). As your blood sugar levels are normal, I suggest getting a lipid profile to rule out dyslipidemia.

2) Stress can lead to this problem as well. Avoid any stress and continue to take tablet Etizolam 0.25 mg to minimize your stress levels.

3) I suggest you stop tablet Censpram 5 mg immediately, as it is an SSRI (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor) and erectile dysfunction is a common side effect of SSRI.

4) Since your blood pressure is in control, I would not say hypertension is a possibility for your erectile dysfunction.

5) I suggest taking tablet Assurans (Sildenafil Citrate) 25 mg an hour before sex to promote erection.

I hope this helps.
