Hello doctor,

I am a 32-year-old married man who is facing erectile dysfunction. I have no issues getting an erection while masturbating however while having sex it does not get fully erect. I have trouble getting and retaining an erection while having sex. Please help.

I read your query and understand your concern about your symptoms. According to your complaints, you may be suffering from erectile dysfunction (ED). Reason for erectile dysfunction are:

1. Stress due to work or family-related, night duties – plan for regular exercise and yoga.

2. Depression.

3. Varicocele – ultrasound scrotum can help diagnose.

4. Fear of failure - having one episode of ED once may make you feel you will end up with ED.

5. Low self-esteem (chronic masturbation).

6. Homosexuality – not attracted to same-sex.

7. Religious constraints.

8. Smoking and alcohol.

9. Long-term illness – Cardiac disease, thyroid disease, kidney disease, or any other disease with long-term medication.

10. For simple Vitamin deficiency – you can use a tablet. Zincovit and Shelcal.

11. Negative attitude towards your partner.

12. Hormonal issue – thyroid issue, low testosterone, increased prolactin.

13. Long-term drug usage.

14. Diabetes and hypertension.

Need to check doppler penis, USG pelvis, and scrotum, blood pressure, RBS, free T3 T4, testosterone, and TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). Share more details regarding the above reasons, we can work on diagnosis and treatment. You need to plan for regular exercise and a proper diet.

1. List of exercises: basic exercises like kegels, squats, yoga, running, or fast walking for five minutes.

2. Missionary sex possession: Planks, push-ups, mountain climber, glute bridges, standing sex position: bicep Curls, pull-ups, jump squats.

3. Doggy Style: jump squats, walking lunge.

4. Cowgirl or the girl on top move: glute bridges, leg raises.
