Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 23-year-old male who has been masturbating for the past six years. Initially, I used to masturbate about two to three times per day, which went on for three years. Then I started thinking of quitting it, but by then, I had already gotten addicted to it. So, I went on masturbating and now have been masturbating four to five times a day. My addiction was so severe that despite knowing how harmful it was, I could never resist the irresistible urge to masturbate. Apart from masturbation, I already indulge in other body-devastating habits. Every day I spend a lot of time with my mobile, and I cannot take my eyes off it because it is another addiction. Moreover, my vision has deteriorated in the past. Besides using my phone too much, I always plunge my headphones into my ears because I like listening to music. These things go on most of the day, which is how I spend my time. I want to change this lifestyle. Recently I have observed some extremely panicking events concerning my health. I have very little sleep during the night, my appetite has reduced, and I do not feel hungry.

My normal body functioning has stopped for the past two years. This is because it has been severely damaged by chronic masturbation and other harmful activities to which I am addicted. I feel I am not the same person I used to be before these things came into my life. I had been a person with a sharp mind and a reasonably high logical mind, and a higher aptitude. Still, after these things came into my life, I got addicted severely to chronic masturbation, having sleepless nights and very little nutrition required, and using electronic gadgets to an excess. I have noticed a drastic change in my body over the past ten days. I feel extremely tired and sleepy even if I had a sound sleep the previous night. I always feel sick and do not have the energy to go out and buy the things needed for my household. I cannot study and focus on other things. I feel as if I need to sleep again.

The most alarming symptom that I have observed for the past few days is I cannot remember anything. I feel as if my mind has gone blank. All the things in my memory since childhood that I never thought I would forget are now missing. English words and meanings of phrases that I knew from childhood and were obvious to me now seem so difficult. I was so good at maths, but even the simplest problems, which seemed so obvious once to me, now appear as insolvable and difficult as if I had never seen them before or as if I have been a dull person since childhood. I cannot think freely, and I also feel that my mind has become paralyzed. I do not know whether the reason behind these things is prolonged chronic masturbation and my unhealthy lifestyle, lack of food and sleep, and excess use of my phone that has damaged my brain or if it is something else. Please reply to my question as quickly as possible. I am in a terrible state and want to know the remedy urgently. I do not know what is wrong with me and how I can fix it.

Please suggest me something.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. First of all, I would like to tell you that masturbation is a safe habit. Masturbation does not cause any problems to health. Even if you masturbate daily, this will not affect your health. But in your case, the problem is excessive masturbation. Excessive masturbation three to four times a day results in the loss of a lot of time that should be spent doing studies, constructive activities, or sports. This is why you feel tired because you are losing time in masturbation. Watching porn also results in the loss of significant time. So you have to reduce masturbation gradually to once per day. This will help save significant time, and you can focus on yourself. This will improve memory too. Spend most of the time outdoors. Try to engage yourself in constructive activities, and you will be alright.

Thanks.
