Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am unable to open my left eye. It is red and has mild pain. I washed my eyes several times but did not use any eyedrops. Please suggest medicine.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. It looks like an eye infection. I have some suggestions for you. You can start with eye drop Moxifloxacin four times a day. Oral painkiller (if available at home can use same or buy from the pharmacy) twice a day for three days. Oral antibiotic Augmentin 625 (Amoxicillin and Clavulanate) twice for three days. Tablet Pantoprazole once before breakfast. You must apply a warm compress to your eye. Follow up after two days.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for all your help.

I have done the treatment as per your advice and applied the eyedrop and consumed those tablets. Unfortunately, I do not feel much improvement. The left eye still remains pink and red. Though as of now there is no vision problem but the mild pain remain intact. I am not sure if it is conjunctivitis or any other infection. I do wear spectacle and in both my eyes has (-) 3.5 power. Please let me know what should I do next.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

The red eye has a different diagnosis. I am sorry to hear that there is no improvement. Now I will start you on mild steroid drops of Fluorometholone four times a day with five days of tapering, which means every five days, you will make drops four times, then three times, then two times, and then once please visit a nearby ophthalmologist for a thorough eye check. Follow up with me after five days, or If you see an eye doctor, then there is no need for follow-up. Also, get eye pressure checked by an eye doctor.

Thank you.
