Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I was wearing glasses three years back, and I had no problems. The powers were right eye sphere (-1.25), cylinder (-0.5), axis (10). Left eye sphere (-1.25), cylinder (-0.5), axis (30). And a year back, I started having a headache. So I went to the eye doctor, and he gave me new prescription glasses. Right eye sphere (-1.75), cylinder (-0.75), axis (180). Left eye sphere (-1.5), cylinder (-0.5), axis (30). My eyes used to hurt for the whole year, and I used to squint and feel dizzy. So again, I went to the doctor two months back, and he gave me this prescription. Right eye sphere (-1.25), cylinder (-1), axis (175). Left eye sphere (-1.25), cylinder (-1), axis (30). But still, I have headaches and eye strain. Please let me know what to do.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thanks for the query. The headache, squint, and complaints are all related to your eyes. I am a little bit confused with the change in the prescriptions you have described. Usually, we do not change prescription glasses above 18 to 20 years because as you grow, your eyes grow until this age where it reaches a plateau. So it will help if you do not change the prescription glasses. You sound healthy as in healthy eyes to exclude any pathological cause for a change in eye prescription and move on with what is common. I believe there is something wrong with your prescriptions. Your doctor may not have given you the one that suits your eyes right, which is causing these problems. Secondly, do you feel dryness, itching even if mild, and watering from your eyes? If you have any of these, please follow up with your reply to proceed with your treatment.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
