Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My eight-month-old daughter has an infection on her eyelid. She has it for months. I was prescribed Tobrex but it helped a little. The eyelid is not healed completely. I took her to the emergency, visited my family doctor and opthalmologist. Still, we are referred to other doctors only. I feel like something should be done sooner. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern. You can send a photograph and it helps to get a diagnosis. Please mention whether it is a round swelling on the eyelid or there is any crustiness on the eyelash, any inflammation with swelling, and watery eyes. If it is a lid swelling that persists for a month, then it can be a chalazion. It can reduce and disappear on its own. You can do a hot compress twice daily. Taking antibiotics does not help at this stage and you can try using Moxifloxacin eye ointment. Apply it to the eyes by pulling the lower eyelid down and apply it in the lower lid crevice. You need to consult an ophthalmologist to drain it or an injection of Triamcinolone can be given to the lesion. If it is an eyelash infection, you can try massaging the ointment on the lashes.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
