Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I want to know which is the best method to remove facial hair. I have gone for laser hair removal, and it was effective. However, as it is expensive, I am looking for cheaper ways. Is halava suitable for the face?

Kindly suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Lasers (Diode, IPL) make the hair thinner and lighter. It is the most effective and permanent method of hair reduction. Waxing is not recommended for the face. The other options include threading and shaving.

Hormones and genes determine the thickness of hair. When males shave their beard, it grows back thick because of the hormones androgen and testosterone. Females have less testosterone; hence they have thinner hair on their face. Shaving has nothing to do with thicker hair. I am just trying to clarify the myth that shaving makes hair grow thicker and dark.

I hope this helps.

Take care.
