Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I took a test and had the following results. Fasting sugar level - 132 mg/dL. Post-prandial sugar level - 144 mg/dL. HbA1c - 13 %. Am I diabetic?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern. From what you have mentioned, it appears that you have high blood sugar and HbA1c suggests that you have diabetes. I would advise you to do serum creatinine to know your kidney function and serum cholesterol levels. In the meantime, I suggest the following. Take tablet Metformin 500 mg twice a day after lunch and dinner. Take tablet Gliclazide MR 30 mg once daily. Take a low-carbohydrate and low-fat diet, and avoid junk and fatty foods. Do exercise for 30 minutes daily. Drink 8 to 10 glasses of water. Repeat your HbA1c after three months, and then we will review it again. First, however, please consult a specialist, discuss with them and start taking the medications with their consent. I hope this helps. Thank you and take care.
