Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have been diagnosed with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MAFLD). Can you explain the key differences between MAFLD and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)? Additionally, what are the recommended lifestyle changes or treatments to manage MAFLD and improve liver health?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I went through your query.
The difference between MAFLD (metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease) and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is that MAFLD is not caused by alcohol but rather simply due to the derailment of the level of the electrolytes in the body that manifests a liver disease while alcohol fatty liver is mainly caused by alcoholic ingestion.
The recommended treatment for MAFLD is to take adequate drug supplements and eat a lot of fruits and vegetables to maintain the electrolytes.
Hope it helps.
Thanks and regards.
