Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had intercourse with a girl two months back without safety measures. After one month I took a PCR test and it got negative. After 40 days I took a test for the p24 antigen and it got negative. Then after 56 days again, I took a PCR test and it was negative. My symptoms started with dehydration and afterwards although I got hydrated, my leg muscle pain was not decreasing. It has been a month now, but my leg muscle pain is not decreasing and I am getting mouth sores as well.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

The chances of transmission of HIV by single unprotected intercourse are low. The HIV antibodies and PCR tests are negative. The chances of HIV tests becoming positive later is almost nil. But it is better to go for an HIV antibodies test after 90 days of exposure to be relieved of anxiety totally and have conclusive results. The symptoms are non-specific and need not be due to HIV. Consult your doctor for examination and management of your symptoms.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Kindly review my attached reports.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I saw your reports (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity).

Your HIV tests are negative. HSV-1 IgG positive indicates past infection. If you have not had any herpetic lesions, you need not worry. A positive rubella IgG indicates past infection or can be due to vaccination.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.
