Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have read some of the replies on the non-transmission of STI (Sexually Transmitted Infection) or HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) by massage and hand job. Still, I want to discuss my query with you. About 18 days back I went for a normal massage, but somehow it finished with a quick hand job. This is the only exposure I had and no other physical contact was made with me. I have a few overthinking issues, so I went for HIV 1 and 2 tests on the 15th day, which came non-reactive. But on the 15th day, I caught a cold as well as started sneezing. I am not unable to understand whether I should consider my report as conclusive or go for another test. I think the weather change caused a cold, sneezing, and slight throat issue which almost settled in two to three days. But as I read a lot online, I am mixing up everything and it is causing more confusion. Please suggest what should I do.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query. You are the first person with such complaints and who would go for a test even. Winter is not finished in a lot of places, so such complaints are very common after massage. Reading online can give a lot of confusion and no solution will be given by the internet. Secondly, they would report even if they get one case. Your symptoms are due to climate change. Relax and do not worry. You will be fine.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

After my cold settled, as I normally always get the cold sore near my nose I was expecting it and it appeared too. Does this make any difference in your opinion? I am not clear about the HIV status of the lady who gave me the hand job. For accurate clarity, I am writing that this incident happened on the last month and symptoms of a cold with a runny nose and feverish feeling started after 10 days and I got tested negative the next day. I am sorry if I am bothering you. But is retesting required or should I forget about this and move forward without any further testing and confusion?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

  1. Cold may occur on any day and there is no problem. Cold sores are due to herpes simplex.
  2. You can locally apply acyclovir ointment after gentle cleansing with Savlon or Dettol. Apply it two times a day.

There is nothing to worry.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

I have a last question. So can I consider that hand job exposure was a safe sexual activity and no transmission of any STI or HIV happened in that way?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, it is safe. But I advise you to use protection and not take it for granted.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.
