Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My daughter is 5 years old, and she weighs 27.56 lbs. She has been suffering from a high temperature since yesterday, which is between 102 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. I give her the tablet Dolo every 4 hours, but her fever is not going down below 102 degrees Fahrenheit. Is it advisable to give a tablet Meftal?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. Yes, If her fever is more than 100 degrees Fahrenheit and she is not responding to Dolo (Paracetamol), then you must give Meftal P (Mefenamic acid) 5 ml every six to eight hours. If the fever comes down to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, then give the tablet Paracetamol. In between medications, give the whole body sponging.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
