Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 16-year-old female. I had a mild sore throat yesterday morning, and the symptoms got worse as the day progressed. I am experiencing a massive headache, throat pain, and fever. I feel exhausted. It is painful for me to swallow my saliva. I also have some red spots on my upper palate. Please advice.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

The symptoms you mentioned are consistent with a bacterial or viral infection. Have you got tested for COVID-19? If not, then get the RT-PCR (reverse-transcrption polymerase chain reaction) test done soon.

Another cause can be a bacterial infection, and the swelling is causing pain and irritation when you are trying to swallow anything. I suggest consulting a doctor in person as the condition needs to be examined. It requires an appropriate antibiotic course. Also, a couple of blood tests need to be done for better understanding. Depending on the type of infection, your doctor will prescribe appropriate medicines for it.

Make sure you drink warm water and avoid any cold food or drinks.

I hope it helps.

Feel free to contact me for any further queries in the future.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
