HomeAnswersGeneral MedicinefeverCan a history of heart stunts cause frequent illness to the body?

Why do I get fever often. Is it because of the heart stent placed three years back?

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am usually getting a fever, and a couple of years back, I had three heart stents done.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern. According to your statement, you have been suffering from a fever for few days, and you have a history of three heart stents. The duration of fever is important with associated features like cough, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, burning sensation during micturition. If your fever persists for more than 6-7 days, then it may have resulted from typhoid or enteric fever. Again, if you have been suffering from cough and fever, it may have resulted from pneumonia or any respiratory infections. Again in case of burning sensation during micturition and abdominal pain with fever may suggest urinary tract infections. Some routine investigations like CBC (complete blood count), widal test, urine routine microscopic examination, reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction for COVID-19 infection should be done to find out the exact causes of fever and then treat them accordingly. In the meantime, you can take Cefixime 400 mg twice daily and Paracetamol for fever.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
