Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I got a fever with a chill. So, got my CBC done in which hemoglobin is 14.5. TIC is 6800,neutrophil is 65, lymphocyte is 29, monocyte is 0, RBC count is 4.67, hematocrit is 46.8, MCV is 100.2, MCH is 31.0, MCHC is 31.9, and platelets count are 113.0. Malaria test is negative. Two years before, I already had a dengue and my platelets are usually 140,000 in number. What to do? Fever is 99.5. No vomiting and loose motions. Earlier i used to drink and also smoke five years back. Now, I have minimized a lot. I am a little worried. Kindly guide.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

CBC seems to be good except for a mild decrease in platelet count. You need to do a dengue serology again but as of now there is nothing to worry about. Please let me know since when you are having the fever.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

It has been 2 to 3 days, the fever is mild, not high fever and monocytes are 0. My platelets generally also remain 140 near about two years back. Also, I had suffered from dengue.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

No, it is nothing to worry about at present, but we should get some more tests done to rule out dengue. So, get dengue NS1 plus IgM done and repeat platelet count day after tomorrow. Usually, in any viral infection, platelet count may go down. Have plenty of water, prevent the risk of injury.
