Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a 60-year-old female. I have had a fever of around 102 degrees Fahrenheit for four days. The fever tends to reduce when I take Dolo 650, but the fever increases after some time. I had vomited three to four times for the first two days, but no vomiting in the last 48 hours. We tested for dengue, malaria, and thyroid. The results are enclosed for your reference. Please note that I take medications for BP and diabetes. My medication includes Aten 50 mg, Glucomet 500 mg, Insulin 20 mg, Gluforin GI, Nurupforte, Anaxit 5 mg, Tonic 5 mg, Evoin lc, and Lutivet eye drops. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have gone through your reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

I went through your post and investigations. The most common cause of fever in decreasing order at 60 years of age is urinary tract infection, viral fever, pneumonia, and gastroenteritis.

You have not mentioned any symptoms except fever. Your investigations do not show any significant abnormality except a mild elevation of the WBC (white blood cell) count.

I would suggest an X-ray of the chest, urine examination, and ultrasonogram of the abdomen.

You need to start antibiotics. I suggest taking tablet Levofloxacin 500 mg once daily. It will take care of urine or chest infection if any of them is the cause. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with him or her and start taking the medicines with their consent.

However, the above investigations need to be done.

Regards.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you. We were able to do some of the tests mentioned by you. Could you please review and let me know your comments? The fever is not there for the last two days.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have seen the reports (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

It is a good thing that the fever has settled. The tests you have uploaded are normal except for CRP (C-reactive protein), which is expected as you had inflammation. There is nothing to worry about.

Regards.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
