Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have multiple fibroids. I just had an ultrasound. My uterus is enlarged.

Can this Kalarchi Kaai help to reduce the size of the uterus and clear fibroids? How much do I consume per day and how long should I take? If I take this herb will I have heavy menses during my period?

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It would be better if you would send me your ultrasound report so I can guide you more. You have not mentioned your menstrual, gynecology, obstetrics, drugs, and medicine history. Your age is 46 years and it is very near to menopause. If you have been suffering from heavy bleeding, menorrhagia, recurrent unscheduled bleeding, heaviness in the lower abdomen, and urinary urgency, it is better to remove fibroids. As their presence will cause more long-term symptoms near menopause.

But if fibroids are multiple and large, it is sometimes difficult to retain the uterus due to intraoperative severe bleeding. In case if any medical disorder like diabetes and hypertension, surgery would be more difficult that is why most doctors in this scenario suggest complete abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy for a woman near menopause if she does not want to preserve fertility. I do not know your complete history nor have an ultrasound but if fibroids are small and asymptomatic, it is better to leave them as such and do pelvic floor exercises.

For herbal treatment, you can discuss it with a respective specialist. I hope you understand things.

After discussing your with the herbal medicine specialist and your treating gynecologist as per your symptoms you can have a better view of the situation.

Best of luck.
