Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My partner and I had sexual contact with clothes two months back. I ejaculated in my pants after a short while, and a bit of fingerplay happened from outside of her undergarments. However, I am sure fingerplay happened before I ejaculated, and I had nothing on my fingers. But I am scared that she will be pregnant. She got her period three days late this month, and we have not been sexually active in the last month. So my doubt is, is there a possibility of pregnancy even after she got her period last month?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

To get pregnant, the sperm should be released inside the vagina of the female. These sperms then need to fertilize an egg, which may or may not be available depending upon the ovulation pattern of the female. Further, the fertilized egg must be implanted in the female's uterus. When all this happens successfully, the female is said to have conceived. Once a female conceives, there is no period and other signs like breast tenderness and vomiting. So since there were no sperms released inside the vagina, there is no likelihood of pregnancy.

Further, the sperm do not survive on clothing or skin for long due to multiple chemical reactions with atmospheric agents. So you need not worry.

Sleep pattern disturbance, stress, and anxiety lead to delays in periods. But do not worry. Three days delay is a normal time for periods to get delayed or advanced, especially when you have not been sexually active last month.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank you for the reply.

Does that mean that once a woman has periods, she cannot be pregnant, considering that she has not been sexually active?

Answered by Dr. Reetika

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

Yes, if there have been periods once, the chances of pregnancy are low or rare but more importantly is that there is no chance of pregnancy as such, according to your details. It is the stress of three days delay which may further delay periods.

I am saying so because stress alone is responsible for delays in periods of 30 % of females worldwide.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
