Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I feel very gassy every day and fart so much. I sometimes feel bloated, but I have noticed that I always have either diarrhea or feel constipated.

I tend to eat a fair bit of food as I am trying to gain muscle and weight at the gym. My usual day would consist of around 7 Weet-Bix mixed with oats and clusters, protein powder with water, two egg wraps, nuts, cashews or walnuts, protein bar, and yogurt. For dinner, I usually eat something like chicken with veggies or maybe pasta or something. Recently the last few days, I have tried to remove lactose from my diet, so no milk, protein powder, protein bars, and yogurts.

I usually wake up at about 6 am and go to the gym, but by the time I get there after eating breakfast, I feel really gassy and fart a lot. Also, at school and throughout the day, I need to fart a lot.

When I go to poo, it is very hard to do it, and not much comes out, or I feel like I still need to go once done. Otherwise, I seem to have diarrhea. It is not delightful. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

It looks like your bowel moments changed due to your enriched protein diet and other food. Therefore, it is causing bloating and change in bowel movements.

It would help if you made your diet balanced. Use protein and other stuff in a balanced way and avoid excessive use.

-Drink plenty of water and take your meal at a specific time daily.

-Also, add more vegetables and fibrous food to your diet.

-Avoid laying or exercise just after a meal.

-Take your dinner 2 hours before going to bed.

-Continue daily exercise.

-If you feel bloating, go to the washroom. Do not stop or control passing the fart as it will make constipation or diarrhea more worse.

-Avoid spicy and junk food. Take yogurt daily.

I hope this will help you to adopt a healthy bowel habit. Thank you.
