Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a school-going student. I have foot odor even if I wear slippers and when I wear shoes it smells really bad. My feet become sweaty while sitting, standing, or even when I do not do anything. I want to study hard but I feel embarrassed at school due to my foot odor.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

Foot odor can be caused by a variety of factors including bacteria and fungus that live on the skin, and sweating. You can take certain steps to prevent feet odor which are as follows:

  1. Keep your feet clean and dry. Wash your feet daily with soap and water, and dry them thoroughly, especially the area between your toes.
  2. Wear clean socks and shoes. Change your socks at least once a day, and alternate pairs of shoes so they have a chance to dry out.
  3. Use antifungal or antiperspirant sprays or powders on your feet.
  4. Avoid tight, synthetic shoes and socks, which can trap moisture and make your feet more susceptible to odor.
  5. Consider using foot pads or insoles that absorb moisture and odor.

If you have tried these steps and still have foot odor, I suggest you to consult a podiatrist for additional advice.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
