Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been experiencing a foul smell from my vagina immediately after periods, and it lasts for around three days. The smell becomes so bad that someone can easily sense it. When I have sex, the smell becomes worse. Is the odor normal or natural? What can I do about it?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your concern in detail, and I will help you. The most common reason for foul odor from the vagina is a genital infection. You will need two tests. One is urine routine microscopy, and the other test is urine culture. These tests will help us detect the type of infection you have, and treatment can be given accordingly. Meanwhile, starting with broad-spectrum antibiotics will be of great help. I suggest you take tablet Martifur MR (Nitrofurantoin), 100 mg twice daily for seven days, tablet Forcan (Fluconazole), 150 mg once a day for three days, tablet Azithromycin one gm, and tablet Cyra-D (Domperidone and Rabeprazole), one tablet in the morning. Take this treatment, and you will see the odor go away. Also, kindly get the tests done. You can share the reports with your local physician or me. Hope this helps. Kindly revert in case of further queries. Thank you.
