Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 38-year-old female suffering from a skin infection in the groin and thigh for the last two months. The infected area is itching, and there were reddish circular rashes. After I used the tea tree oil, it spread too much. Then I used the Clotrimazole cream but did not notice any changes. Finally, I started using the Fourderm ointment, but it is still spreading, and I have a burning sensation. I have attached an image. Please have a look and guide me.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

From the images attached (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity), I think you are suffering from a fungal infection that commonly affects the inner thighs, groin, and buttocks. It can be treated with anti-fungal tablets and creams. Do not use soap over that area. Applying over-the-counter steroid creams like Fourderm (Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Miconazole, Clobetasol, and Neomycin), Panderm (Terbinafine, Clobetasol, Ofloxacin, and Ornidazole), and Betnovate (Betamethasone) might lead to recurrence and side effects. Do not use steroids containing multiple creams. Please, do not delay the treatment as it might spread further and affect the other people living in your house.

Treatment plan

I suggest you apply Sertaconazole cream twice daily.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
