Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have some problem on my penis skin. My age is 23 and I do not have any other problem. Today, I got my blood test done. I have attached the photos of penis for your reference. Kindly help me.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have seen the pictures (attachment removed to protect patient identity) and need some details about the problem.

  • Is there any history of unprotected sexual intercourse recently? Are the lesions itchy or painful?
  • How long the lesions are present? Did you take any treatment?
  • The lesions appear to be some fungal infection and not an STD (sexually transmitted disease). But, detailed evaluation is needed to make diagnosis. Please add your laboratory reports too.
  • Keep the penis shaft dry and avoid wearing underwear for some days. Keep the affected part dry. Apply neutral creams to prevent the further spread.
  • Visit a dermatologist for evaluation and treatment. Do not delay the treatment.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

The answers for your questions are as follows. Yes, I had unprotected sex with women but I am not married. It is not itchy, but I do have occasional pain while having sex and while stretching my foreskin back. I am facing this problem for the last one year. I used antifungal cream before and it did not work. Now, I am not taking any treatment. I did not do any laboratory test for penis. I had blood and urine test today and I have attached the reports. When I open my foreskin and leave it dry for sometime the lesion disappear, but when foreskin covers the area it appears again. What to do? Please suggest a treatment or cream.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

  • You have history of unprotected sex with females and this is a risk factor for persistent non-remitting infection. Please abstain from sex for some time and start using condom during sex. This will protect you from further spread.
  • Continue to apply the antifungal cream and visit a dermatologist for help. Ketoconazole tablets can be used. The tablets will help to treat the chronic fungal infection.
  • Regarding STI (sexually transmitted infection) investigations to rule out any possibility of sexually transmitted illness, your blood and urine tests are normal. You can relax, but still go for STI investigations.
  • Go for blood glucose tests to rule out diabetes which is a common cause of persistent infection.
