Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My brother, who is 35 years old, has frequent stomach upset. As soon as he eats outside food that is spicy, he gets severe stomach pain. Will that be due to an ulcer or gastritis? Please help with suggestions. He is also overweight. Is there any diet plan to be followed?
Thanks.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Eating out or spicy foods are common risk factors for gastritis, which makes it less likely to cause an ulcer. Ulcer pain is severe and persistent, and ulcers can bleed, which will lead to black-colored vomiting or black-colored stools. In this case, this is gastritis. Acid suppression medicine like tab Pantoprazole 40 mg, half an hour before breakfast, for seven to 10 days would help. Syrup Sodium alginate 10 ml post-meals can also be used to overcome acidity or burning symptoms.
Regarding diet, try to calculate the calories of every food. The normal calorie requirement is around 2000 calories. It would help if you try to cut down on calories and increase physical activity to reduce weight. Avoid a high-fat and high-carbohydrate diet, which will reduce calories significantly.
I hope this information will help you.
Thanks.
