Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I went to a strip club where the stripper touched and rubbed my penis, but there was no intercourse. After that, my glans penis was irritated, and tiny red dots appeared around the rim of the penis. It is painful for a few days so I got tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia with a dipstick urine test. The dipstick showed no leukocytes and the chlamydia-gonorrhea test was negative. I also started to apply 1% hydrocortisone which seems to help. However, there is still a burning sensation around the penis. There is no burning with urination or drainage at the urethra. I have not seen any blisters or fluid-filled vesicles that burst and leave a scab on the penis.

My questions are:

1. What are the chances of me contracting Herpes, syphilis, HIV, or hepatitis?

2. Does my symptoms sound like herpes?

3. When does a herpes outbreak occur after the initial encounter?

4. Can I have herpes without painful vesicles?

Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I went through your query and understood your concern.

The answers to your questions are,

1) The chances are always there when you are in contact with the genitalia, irrespective of the short or long contact.

2) Your symptoms can be due to two reasons

a) Herpes since burning and redness could be the only presentation of herpes without any blister formation. Sometimes, it takes seven to ten days for the symptoms to appear.

b) It could be due to friction as well.

So, I suggest you keep on applying hydrocortisone (corticosteroid). For herpes, I suggest you take a tablet of Acyclovir (antiviral) 400 milligrams three times a day for seven days. I also suggest you do IgM and IgG testing for Herpes type 1 and type 2 as early as possible.

Kindly consult a specialist, talk with them, and take medicines with their consent.

I hope this has helped you.

Thanks and regards.
