Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a few soft boils with whitish fluid at the base of my penis three months back. After a few days of the eruption, it bursted and formed a hard bump around the base of my penis and scrotum. It appeared after having sex with my girlfriend. Sometimes I cut the hard lumps with razors, and they keep coming back. They swell more and multiply after having sex. Sometimes it is itchy and flaky when it is dry. Kindly help. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I read your query and understand the concern. Considering your history and the attached images (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), it appears to be genital warts. Genital warts are viral infections caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) and transmitted through direct skin contact or sexual contact with an infected person. As you have mentioned, a history of having physical contact, then it may have been transmitted in a similar manner. Genital warts may take weeks to settle and sometimes even months or years to disappear and may remain asymptomatic. Therefore, I suggest you the following measures. (Consult a specialist doctor, talk with them, and take medications with their consent.) Take Tablet Zinc acetate twice daily in the morning and night after food for one month. Avoid unprotected sex, notify your sexual partner about the same, and advise your sexual partner to get treated in case of any lesions. Kindly consult a doctor for HPV (human papillomavirus vaccination) to prevent reinfections with a different strain. Electrocautery and cryotherapy are operative procedures done by a dermatologist to treat these lesions. For this procedure, you may need to consult a dermatologist in person. Kindly consult a dermatologist for further evaluation and the treatments mentioned above. Genital warts may be recurrent; therefore, taking adequate precautions during intimacy is important. I hope I was helpful to you. Thank you.
