Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

A month ago, after accidentally eating expired wheat flour, I had a burning sensation in the stomach, arms and feet. I took Cyra-D for seven days and ate light food. I ate a little amount of packed food a while ago and I am experiencing the same symptoms but a bit lesser than before along with gas and acidity. I feel this gets triggered after eating any packed food. Currently, I am taking Himcocid, cranberry juice, yogurt, and took wheatgrass powder today. What should be done to treat this? I was also on antibiotics course before this.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Can you please answer few of my questions. Do you have heartburn? If yes, what specific time of day? Is there any bitter sensation in mouth? Do you suffer from diarrhea? Is there any abdominal pain? If yes, which specific place? Is your sleep normal?

I personally feel you have gastroesophageal reflux which is not related to intake of flour. You try to forget about that event and take precautions to protect triggering of your symptoms.

Treatment plan

Capsule Omperazole 40 mg once daily 30 minutes before breakfast for four weeks, syrup Gaviscon 2 teaspoons after meals thrice daily for two weeks.

Preventive measures

Avoid spicy food. Light exercise daily. Avoid NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs).

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

Yes, I get heartburn sometimes while having lunch. No bitter sensation in mouth. No diarrhea and no abdominal pain as such, but mild constipation. Yes, I sleep about six to seven hours. Medicines generally do not suit me, please prescribe mild medicines.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I have prescribed you mild medicines only. Try to take homemade mint juices and cold milk along with it.

The Probable causes

Treatment plan

Capsule Omperazole 40 mg once daily 30 minutes before breakfast for four weeks, syrup. Gaviscon two teaspoons after meals thrice a day for two weeks.

Preventive measures

Avoid spicy and fatty meals. Try to do lift walk after supper. Raise head end of your bed. Do not smoke (if you ever do).

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I am taking the medicines, but I still feel the heat in the stomach. I also feel a burning sensation near my belly button, similar to the sensation of applying chilly. I am unable to sleep due to this. I have attached a urine test report.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I ahve seen the report (attachment removed to protect patient identity).

I will add another drug and will increase the dose of Omeprazole. Try to use them regularly. The bacteria in the urine will not lead to such symptoms. It may be an incidental finding. You can also use antianxiety drugs for short term if you feel anxious.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
