Hi doctor,

I have increased hair fall and gray hair. I also did home remedies like amla, reetha, and shikakai.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for writing, and I understand your concern.

Such hair changes can be due to inadequate diet and vitamin deficiencies, mostly vitamin B7 deficiency. Another reason can be applying different types of shampoo and washing hair frequently.

  • Since when do you have hair fall and gray hair growth?
  • What about periods? Do you get your periods regularly?
  • Is there any history of PCOD (polycystic ovarian disease)?
  • Please apply vitamin E capsules on hair two times a week for three weeks.
  • Do not wash your hair frequently.
  • Get a proper diet such as fruits and vegetables, and drink enough fluids.

Please answer so I can help you accordingly.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

Thank for your reply.

I do not have any history of PCOD. Grey hair problem started, I think, two to three years ago. There was one gray hair, then it becomes two now there and many. They are mostly in the front part. I get my periods regularly, and I shampoo my hair twice a week, which is necessary. Yes, I changed many shampoos in the last three to four months because the shampoo I was using before had sulfate. And I read somewhere that sulfate increases greying of hair. So then I started struggling with a lot of herbal shampoos, non-sulfate shampoos, etc. Which shampoo should I use then? Can I apply vitamin E, and how? In some oil or just pure capsule oil? Am I need to take any medicine? What type of food should I eat?

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Yes, actually, vitamin E capsule contains oil, so open it and apply on hair two to three hours before bath and then have a regular bath. Choose any shampoo and use it; do not change it. And in diet eat more fruits such as apple, papaya, pomegranate, and a diet rich enough in protein such as more green vegetables and nonvegetarian means red meat. It will take time to change. Please do not stress much, and everything will be fine in a few months. If anything else, please let me know I am here to help you.

Thank you.
