Hello doctor,

I have had hair fall for the last four years. I consulted a dermatologist four months ago and used Minoxidil 5%, Finasteride, some vitamin tablets, and PRP treatment once every month. However, I skipped the medication for a month after using the medicines for three months. Can I restart using Minoxidil again?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

From the attached (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity) pictures, it is a male pattern of hair loss. Hairloss around the temples and the top of the head is a male pattern of hair loss. It occurs due to sex hormone imbalance such as excess androgen or increased DHT (Dihydrotestosterone), and it is genetic; shortening of the hair growth cycle and delay in new hair growth occurs in this. Other associated causes could be insufficient protein intake, aging, iron deficiency, hairstyles and treatment, hair procedures like coloring or rough handling, stress, and autoimmune cause. Apply Minoxidil 5 % (Propylene glycol 500 mg/ml and Ethanol 300 mg/ml) solution 1 ml twice daily in the morning and evening for three months. Wash scalp with Nizoral (Hydrochloric acid, Imidurea, Laurdimonium hydrolyzed animal collagen, Macrogol 120, and Methyl glucose dioleate) shampoo twice weekly for six weeks if you have dandruff, otherwise Anaboom 9Cocamidopropyl betaine, Sodium cocayl taurate, Capryl glucoside, Ethoxylated methyl glucose ether, Propylene glycol, and Glycol distearate) shampoo while on Minoxidil. Take capsule Perfectil plus (Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, Lutein, Co-enzyme Q10, and Lycopene) twice daily after food for 30 days. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them and take medications with their consent. Eat oranges, avocados, carrots, yogurt, sweet potatoes, salmon, spinach, green leafy vegetables, eggs, chicken, onions, nuts, and fortified cereals. Drink adequate water. Have green tea. Avoid caffeine, tea, and soda. Eliminate stress. Massage the scalp with Alovera gel or onion juice extract (as a home remedy). Quit smoking if you smoke. I hope this helps you.

Thank you.

Hello doctor,

I have used Minoxidil for three months straight and stopped a month ago. My query is if I restart it again, do I face any problems, or is it fine to restart?

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

It will be fine if you restart using Minoxidil 5 % (Propylene glycol 500 mg/ml and Ethanol 300 mg/ml). Continue using it for three more months.

Thank you.
