Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 20-year-old female. I brush my teeth twice a day and use a tongue scraper to clean the tongue. I eat breakfast in the morning, and I take snacks in between meals. In addition, I drink plenty of water to keep me hydrated. But, I always have bad breath and am not able to freshen my breath. I always notice people rubbing their noses when they are around me and sniffling a lot. In some cases, it is due to allergies, but in most, it is because they triggered a bad smell. I even hear them talking about it while passing through the hallway. It makes me upset because it feels like something is wrong with me even though I spend so much time focusing on my hygiene. I want to go out in public without having panic attacks when I am beside someone. It has crushed my social life and now my intimacy with my boyfriend. I want to be normal again.

How to cure this?

Kindly help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I had gone through your question and I can understand your concern. It is not always dental issues which cause halitosis or bad breath, most of the time it is related to either respiratory tract system or gastric (stomach) issues. You need to visit a gastroenterologist and a general physician to learn the exact problem. Also, make sure that your stomach should not remain empty for too long. Always use Chlorhexidene mouthwash after having your breakfast. I think your halitosis issue is not dental, in case you have further questions to ask do let me know.

I hope this helps you.
