Do symptoms such as an excruciating headache and twitching in my body indicate ALS or a tumor?

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

A few days ago, I had an excruciating headache. It felt like a lightning bolt on my right temple. It happened more than three times on both temples, mainly on the right-hand side. I had twitching in my body, but it seemed to have calmed down, and it happens once after every few hours. Also, when I lean on my hand, my face feels numb afterward, and it takes time to return normal. Also, my knees feel weak after sitting for a while too.

I am scared that I am suffering from ALS due to twitching and a tumor due to a headache.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Your symptoms are most likely due to migraine, which causes severe headaches, mainly on one side, that may last for 72 hours. It is associated with other features like limb numbness, nausea, photophobia, and other symptoms.

The other possible causes include the following:

1. Cluster headache.

2. Glaucoma.

3. Secondary to more serious conditions.

Please provide me with more details to reach the appropriate diagnosis:

1. Do you have a fever, nausea, and red eyes?

2. Are you suffering from any muscle weakness?

4. When was the first time you experienced this type of headache?

I suggest you consult a physician and take Paracetamol 1000 mg tablet for the headache. Follow-up is required to confirm the diagnosis and to exclude any severe conditions.

I hope it may work.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
